Rio Lagartos and La Colorada

Rio Lagartos - On the northern shore of the peninsula, Río Lagartos (Alligator River) is a fishing village that also boasts the densest concentration of pink Caribbean flamingoes in Mexico; approximately 40,000 have been registered.
Within the Ría Lagartos Biosphere Reserve, a mangrove-lined estuary, are 395 bird species as well as the crocodiles that gave the town its name.
Less than a half mile east of the town is Las Coloradas, a little known part of Yucatán, with picturesque and unordinary landscapes, a giant salt factory and amazing pink lagoons.

We toured the river on a small boat and it was a perfect day!! The river is so calm with tons of wildlife. We just found a guide while coming into town. We stopped at the pink lakes! and got a mayan mud bath with the mineral enriched mud. Then it ended at a gorgeous blue beach to rinse off and enjoy a swim.
